Definition of recount text is text that describes the experiences that have been passed by way of retelling back the events of what happened based on time sequence of occurrence. Recount text is written to show readers some events that took place back in order to be known by the reader or into entertainment. From the term of story, recount text is like narrative and spoof text.
Definition of Recount Text
Recount is a text which retells events or experiences in the past. Its purpose is either to inform or to entertain the audience. There is no complication among the participants and that differentiates from the narrative
How Many Kinds Of Recount Text?
Like narrative stories, recount texts also have several kinds, namely:
1. Personal recount: The text for recounting personal experiences of the author
2. Factual recount: Reports of events that actually happened as police reports, reports science experiment
3. Imaginative recount: Make imaginative play and then writing down the events that occurred
Generic Structure of Recount Text
Each type of text has the generic structure is different. The structure is different because the purpose and function of the text are also different. The structure selected for the purpose of the written text is passed. As for the generic structure of the recount is shaped text:
1. Orientation: Introducing the participants, place and time
2. Events: Self-describing series of events that happened in the past
3. the Reorientation: It is optional. Stating a personal comment of the writer to the story
Language Feature of Recount Text
Same is the case with generic structure, language feature every type of text also tend to be different. Even so, the characteristics of this language is applied only "dominantly". There should definitely meet all the elements of language feature. Characteristics of the language of the text of the shape of a recount usually:
1. Introducing personal participant; I, my group, etc
2. Using chronological connection; then, first, etc.
3. Using linking verb; was, were, saw, heard, etc.
4. Using action verb; look, go, change, etc.
5. Using the simple past tense
