Thank you very much.
It helped me a lot.
I don't get to understand the "Identification", Could you please give an example?
When saying "attributive", what do you mean?
THanks again from Spain.
Dear Guy, since descriptive tex is describing a specific thing, we need to identify which particular thing we want to discuss in the text. Structuring Identification is necessary in order to avoid having general statement/clasification which belongs to report text. Identification introduces the main particular topic of the text.
Attributive belongs to grammar term. We know adjective such as "old" to modify noun. When the adjective is used to construct a sentence/phrase, the adjective can be attributive or predicative. The man is old and the old man is my neighbour, the first old is called predicative and the second is attributive.
However if you get other idea, it will be my pleasure if you let me know for better understanding. Thank for dropping by
Thank YOU! Now everything is clear for me!
I would also like to say that trying to know about the different types of texts, I didn't know the distribution that you did, but the basic 5 kinds: descriptive, narrative, expositive, argumentative and instructive.
Thank you!
There is always something new to be learnt.

Guy, I totally agree with you that there are a lot new things to be learnt. When we have learnt the new thing, it will become the old one and still the are the other new ones outside waiting to be learnt.
Again thank you, thanks the beautiful famous valencia..
well, I agree with your opinion about descriptive, but one thing I wonder why do all state that descriptive texts always use simple present tense? I've ever read a descriptive text with past tense
Thank fort the comment in this what descriptive text. however that language feature is just dominant language pattern, maybe the post which was made tow years ago need corrected and updated. Descriptive text can be formed in PAST TENSE like the example of descriptive text in CLEOPATRA, the text mostly is composed in past tense because Cleopatra lived in the past time

Defining descriptive text is sometime confusing with what is report text. Both descriptive text and report tell what is the thing is. However descriptive text tend to focus to certain participant while report describe the participant in general
descriptive can b informative. Am i right??????
I think so. A descriptive text can be a form of informative text. I have read some notes about it.
According to yahoo answer, informative text is not a genre, it is just a piece of writing which inform knowledge and data. Informative text is excluded from the text types which we have been studying.
According to 45 language, informative text is commonly composed in patterns of;Title, pictures with caption, sub heading, paragraph, non-fiction, interesting boxes, facts, easy to understand, set it nicely, staying in the subject, no repetition, simple.
So since some types of text are functionally informing, such as; descriptive, report, explanation, procedure, they can be in form of informative text.
Thank for ur coming, if u have another idea about what is and how informative text composed, I will be very happy to know it
